It’s a tale as old as time– “Work hard and you’ll find success”-- or something along these lines, right? We’ve all heard it from our parents, grandparents, bosses, etc. but I prefer the old adage of “Work smarter, not harder.”
Finding success through leveraging yourself is not cheating the system or being lazy, it is about finding time (your one true currency) and having the freedom to live your life. Leverage is a new term that you will get to know very well as you read through “Hack Your Job.”
You can leverage your work, your technology, and ultimately your life. Leverage can be termed as using something to its maximum advantage. In the case of our lives, the maximum advantage is the freedom of time. When you have freedom of time you have the freedom to choose how you use your time.
Personally, I hear people say, “If I could maximize my time, I would live out my days drinking margaritas on a beach somewhere.” To that I say more power to you, however, I’m not wired like that. To honestly leverage your time, and your life, is to create multiple streams of income while outsourcing your work.
One of the underlying themes of “Hack Your Job” is about outsourcing as much work as you can while you orchestrate the multiple businesses in which you are earning money. I try to consistently keep roughly 5 businesses going all the time. I can do this and still have the freedom of time by leveraging my time within these businesses by outsourcing, leveraging my technology, and prioritizing my time and tasks. Work smarter, not harder.
