We get deep into data hacks and hacking your data in ‘Hack Your Job,’ but I wanted to give you a brief overview of what is happening when your data gets hacked, and you don’t even realize it.
Every social media platform is hacking your data. Our society has become so used to it that no one even realizes– or cares at this point– that they are being hacked.
Platforms such as Facebook and Instagram have all of your personal data excluding your social security number (which most people would probably give them if they asked for it) under the guise of giving you a “more user friendly experience on the platform.”
Hacking your data is not unique to only social media platforms; credit card companies, websites, and countless other entities are harvesting data from customers and putting your safety at risk. Why do you think companies like LifeLock or NordVPN are becoming so popular?
On a smaller scale companies are also hacking your email. Think about it– how do you think all of these spam emails are getting your info? I would guess you probably delete 90% of the emails you receive and don’t even know where the majority of them came from. These are companies– some legit, some not– that are harvesting your data and putting you at risk.
Be careful what you share and where you share it. Limit your data because not everyone has your best interest in mind.
